Heimer, 83, of Lansdale, passed away Nov. 27, 2007 in Doylestown Hospital. He was the husband of 60 years to the late Jacqueline E. (Stoops) Heimer, who died July 2, 2006. The couple lived in Norristown until moving to Lansdale about 49 years agoBorn and raised in Norristown, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Mary (Atkinson) Heimer and graduated from Norristown High School. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.Mr. Heimer had a career of 40 years with Bell of PA, working in various capacities until retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Pioneers of theBell Co. and Communication Workers of America.Unusually talented and creative in woodworking and cabinet making, he expressed his artistic talent in making furniture and other items, most ofwhich he gave as gifts to family and friends. These are sure to be treasured heirlooms.Surviving are a son, James E. Heimer and his wife, Christine, of Lansdale; three grandchildren, James C., Samuel and Ellen Heimer; two sisters, Mary Jane Bertolette of Norristown and Nancy Jenkins and her husband, the Rev. Thomas Jenkins, of Pottstown; a brother, Donald Heimer and his wife, Ruth, of Lancaster; and two generations of nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, John F. Heimer, Jr., who died June 27, 1976; and a brother, Wesley Heimer.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service, Saturday, Dec. 1, at 4:30 PM in the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale, where the family will greet friends after 3:30 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the North Penn Athletic Alumni Assoc. Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 22, Lansdale, PA 19446.
